What do you think will happen in season 3 of The Mandalorians?
I'm pretty sure Grogul will be reunited with Din Garin (Mando) in the first or second episode.
I think what really fascinates people about Mandalore's "magic" isn't Mando, or even little Yoda, but their relationship. We want to see their adorable interactions, we want to see how reluctantly Mando takes on the responsibilities of an unprepared father, while baby Yoda is, well, just the cutest toddler in a galaxy far, far away. While Mando could have continued to be this regular bounty hunter, going on weekly missions, the story would have lost its charm without little Yoda.
I think Jon Ferrue and Dave Filoni know this. Disney isn't going to let them fade away from Yoda just for merchandise revenue. Most importantly, they need to find a way to justify the absence of Yoda Jr. and Mando (and Ahsoka) in the sequel.
With all this in mind, I'm pretty sure Grogul will rejoin Mando soon after the start of season three. It could be that Grogul is special, and Luke wants to find more sensitive Jedi children for his academy with his "Blue Shield Meditation" or something like that; or it could be that Grogul has never bonded with Luke, has become more and more bitter and sad, and Luke realizes that the best way to train him (and to keep him away from the Dark Side) is to keep him with Mando, and that he'll have a better chance at getting him to do so. They visit the Jedi temple where Grogul learned the Force in this way.
Regardless, I think the story will probably follow a similar road trip structure, having them travel from planet to planet, meeting new people and facing new challenges.
There's still a lot of room for development between Grogul and Mando, now that they can communicate. We learn more about Grogul's past.
The main story line will center around resolving the conflict between Bokatan and Mando over ownership of the Black Sword.
Mando is more than happy to give it to Pokatan, but Pokatan is bound by her traditions to accept it. This could challenge Mando's own creed, as he has already broken the rules twice. It creates wonderful interpersonal conflict and internal struggles for Mando, which promises interesting character growth for both Bokatan and Mando.
However, I have complete faith in the narrative abilities of Jon Ferrue and Dave Filoni. Looking forward to the new season.
