Traditional Culture Encyclopedia - Traditional virtues - What is composite drilling
What is composite drilling
Compound drilling is a drilling method that utilizes both rotary and percussive methods to break rock during the drilling process.
Traditional drilling methods utilize a single rotary method to break rock, which is faster in soft rock formations but slower in hard rock formations and can cause bit damage. The composite drilling method, on the other hand, increases drilling speed in soft rock formations and reduces bit wear in hard rock formations by combining both rotary and percussive methods, thus improving drilling efficiency and safety.
Compound drilling technology is mainly divided into two types:
1. Axial impact compound drilling: utilizing the flow energy of the drilling fluid, by rotating the axial impactor on the drill bit, the axial impact force is applied to the drill bit, so as to improve the rock-breaking ability of the drill bit.
2. Torsional impact composite drilling: utilizing the flow energy of drilling fluid, the torsional impactor on the rotary drill bit applies torsional impact force to the drill bit, thus improving the rock-breaking ability of the drill bit.
Advantages and application effects of composite drilling technology
I. Advantages of composite drilling technology
1. Improvement of drilling speed: composite drilling technology can improve drilling efficiency and reduce drilling costs.
2, reduce bit wear: composite drilling technology can reduce bit wear and extend bit life.
3, improve the quality of the borehole: composite drilling technology can improve the quality of the borehole and reduce the risk of borehole failure.
Two, the application effect of composite drilling technology
1, in soft rock formations, composite drilling technology can increase drilling speed by about 20%-30%, reduce bit wear by about 15%-20%.
2. In hard rock formations, composite drilling technology can reduce bit wear by about 30%-40% and increase drilling speed by about 10%-20%.
3. In high temperature and high pressure formations, composite drilling technology can increase drilling speed by about 15%-20% and reduce bit wear by about 20%-30%.
