What are the characteristics of advertising?
Advertising is different from general mass communication and propaganda activities, mainly in:
1, advertising is a communication tool, is the information of a commodity, by the production or operation of this commodity (advertisers) to a group of users and consumers;
2, advertising needs to be paid;
3, advertising for the communication activities is with persuasive
4, advertising is purposeful, planned and continuous;
5, advertising is not only beneficial to the advertiser, but also to the target audience, and it enables users and consumers to get useful information.
Advertising as a means, whether under capitalist conditions or under socialist conditions, has many similarities in its basic functions--dissemination of information, acceleration of circulation, and investment in competition--and is equally subject to the ****same laws of the commodity economy. The life of an advertisement lies in its truthfulness; a dishonest advertisement can never win the public's trust, and is therefore bound to lose its value of existence. The truthfulness of the advertisement requires that the goods and services introduced in the advertisement must be based on facts, honestly and clearly explain the true nature of things, and provide consumers with evidence that can stand up to scrutiny, so as to truly play a role in guiding consumption and promoting production.
