Classification of copper reliefs

Copper reliefs are divided into copper reliefs, brass reliefs and forged copper reliefs.

Red copper relief is also called pure copper and red copper. Red copper has good ductility, electrical conductivity and corrosion resistance, in which ductility is an important feature of bronze carving decoration. Copper has a high melting point and is not easy to cast, but its good ductility makes up for this shortcoming, so it can be easily processed into various modeling patterns.

Brass relief simply means that some copper carvings with distinct effects can be realized on the surface of brass relief through certain processing, among which chemical retro method is widely used. The chemical liquid is fermented and oxidized at room temperature, and a black oxide is generated through the chemical reaction of the liquid medicine without damaging the brass surface, and then the surface is finely treated by artificial technology, showing a variety of bronze rhyme effects.

Wrought copper relief (also called copper chisel or copper tapping) is a carving process by using the ductility of copper, and it is a wonderful work in traditional handicrafts in China.
