What holiday is August 7th?
August 7th is Boys’ Day in Sweden.
Swedish Boys' Day Lobster Festival is one of Sweden's traditional festivals, also known as Little Boys' Day.
Starting from August 7th every year, men and their little boys go out on boats to catch lobsters.
People hope that through this kind of activity, little boys across the country will be encouraged to learn the brave spirit of lobsters and cultivate the qualities of hard work and perseverance. If they can return with a full harvest, it will mark the year when the little boy is smart, studious and has good luck.
During the Lobster Festival, people also hold various lobster parties.
Colorful dinner paper is put on special aprons, lace tablecloths are spread, lobster-shaped red lanterns are lit, and the family gathers around the table to taste lobster.
While the adults were drinking and eating lobster, they loudly praised the little boys at home, encouraged them, and hoped that they would grow up healthily.
