What is the scoring standard of badminton?
Badminton scoring standards: similar to table tennis scoring method, using the 21-point system, i.e., the first two sides to reach 21 points to win, 3 sets of 2 wins. In each game, after both sides reach 20-all, one side is ahead by 2 points to win the game; if both sides reach 29-all, one side is ahead by 1 point to win the game.
In the new system, points are scored for each ball, and players may no longer request an interruption of play except in special circumstances (e.g., a wet floor, a broken ball). However, when a team is leading by 11 points in each set, the game takes a one-minute technical timeout to allow both teams in the match to wipe sweat, drink water, etc.
The scorer's side has the right to serve, from the left if the side scores an odd number of points, or from the right if it scores an even number of points. In the third set or in a match that is played in one set only, the teams exchange court areas when a side's score reaches 11 points first.
