What is the meaning of Chaoshan Yinglaoji

"Welcoming the Old Master" is a ritual activity.

On the 15th day of the first lunar month, the young and strong men of the village will carry a palanquin with eight carriers and carry the Master all over the streets and alleys of the village, with a huge parade, including standard bearers (carrying standard flags), card bearers (holding cards), palanquin bearers, and musicians.

Welcoming the lord is to pray for good weather and peace in the village. When welcoming the lord, villagers can touch the lord with their hands, which is rumored to bring good luck and ensure a year of peace, happiness and good health.

Origin of Folklore

The Chaoshan people like to worship the gods, and the other honorific name for the gods is "Lao Lao", which can be found in every town in Chaoshan. On every special festival, the villagers always go to the temple to worship the god, and the temple is always filled with incense.
