Three major social movements in the United States

1: the westward movement refers to the mass movement in which residents from the eastern United States migrated to the western region, which began at the end of 18 and ended at the end of 19 and the beginning of the 20th century. This movement has greatly promoted the development of the American economy. However, with the westward movement, a large number of Indians were slaughtered, and the survivors were forcibly driven to a more desolate "reservation". The forced migration of Indians is also known as the "road of blood and tears" of Indians.

2. Black civil rights movement: From the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s, black Americans opposed racial discrimination and oppression and fought for equal rights in politics, economy and society. African-Americans are the largest ethnic minority in the United States. They have long been discriminated against by race and are at the bottom of society. Encouraged by the victory of colored people in Asian and African countries for national independence after World War II, and due to the progress of industrialization, a large number of blacks flowed into cities, making the status of blacks a national issue, which was an important reason for the rise of the movement.

3. American environmental movement: American environmental awareness is not only the product of American social progress, but also the historical product of continuous development with the changes of American society. The anthropocentric view of nature runs through the process of natural development in modern America, and conquering and using nature has become the main theme in the relationship between modern Americans and nature. Since British colonization, the unique natural environment of the North American continent has cultivated Americans' enthusiasm and belief in conquering nature. The once primitive and desolate North American continent, with the development of the American nation, has become a country with developed economy and civilized progress.
