What's the difference between intercity railway and bullet train?
Intercity refers to the express passenger dedicated line between cities, which may or may not be high-speed rail. For example, Chengdu to Dujiangyan and Nanchang to Jiujiang are not high-speed trains, but Beijing to Tianjin and Shanghai to Nanjing are all high-speed trains.
Motor train generally refers to rail vehicles with their own power, which is different from trailers. The motor train and trailer together form the EMU. A bullet train is similar to a locomotive, so the speed of a bullet train is definitely much higher than that of its EMU.
China's EMU trains are divided into three grades: high-speed EMUs (with a speed of 250 and above, marked G, mainly corresponding to high-speed railways), and there is no upper speed limit at present; Ordinary EMU or medium-speed (D, speed 160 and 200 kilometers, mainly corresponding to fast railway) and low-speed EMU.
