What traditional cultural practices are disappearing or have already disappeared in China?
As society changes, time develops, and civilization advances, some traditional cultural practices are no longer adapted to the urbanized modern civilization, and their disappearance is inevitable. But there are some cultures that are the foundation of China that seem to be slowly disappearing.
1, Chinese kung fu
The first thing that comes to mind when mentioning Chinese kung fu may be Bruce Lee, followed by Jet Li and Jackie Chan and some other martial arts stars. In fact, in my opinion, Bruce Lee's kung fu may not even be considered as a beginner if it is placed in ancient times.
Although Chinese kung fu is not as exaggerated as it is shown in movies and TV, it should be beyond the imagination of modern people. It's just that due to the loss of the core of kung fu culture, modern people simply don't know how to practice it. Nowadays, people are more eager to learn Muay Thai, yoga and whatnot, which has to be sad.
2, Chinese medicine
There is no doubt that Chinese medicine is an important part of traditional culture. Unfortunately, nowadays, Chinese medicine is also like Chinese kung fu, are thinning out. What is presented are some very shallow and superficial things. As for the essence, very few people have been able to grasp it.
A so-called Chinese medicine that relies on modern medical instruments to diagnose is by no means a true Chinese medicine. The foundation of Chinese medicine is to look and smell, and if you can't do that, you haven't made it to the top of the heap.
Besides these two typical traditional cultures, there are many other cultural practices that are disappearing, such as theater, Chinese weddings, filial piety, and so on. Some of these customs are not suitable for modern civilization, and will rightly be phased out by the development of society. But some of them are the roots of Chinese culture, and they are disappearing. But I believe that the disappearance of only some of the external form, as for its internal has been integrated into the blood of the children of the Yellow River, perhaps in the future one day will be completely awakened.
