Are Chinese painting pigments the same as gouache pigments?

Chinese painting pigments are different from gouache pigments.

Traditional Chinese painting pigments and gouache pigments are different in composition and usage. Chinese painting pigments are mainly made of natural materials such as minerals, plant dyes and animal glue, with rich colors and unique texture. They usually exist in solid form and need to be mixed with water to make paste or liquid before use. Gouache pigment is a mixture of pigment powder and gelling agent prepared in advance, which can be used by adding water. Gouache pigment is transparent in color and suitable for watercolor painting, illustration and other painting forms. Therefore, Chinese painting pigments are different from gouache pigments.
