Which district did Luwan District merge into?
Luwan District merged into Huangpu District, June 8, 2011, the State Council agreed to the entire territory of the former Luwan District, the entire territory of the former Huangpu District merged into the new Shanghai Huangpu District unified management, the abolition of the establishment of Shanghai Luwan District.
The merger of the three districts, Huangpu, Luwan and Jing'an, was initially due to the inconvenience caused by unified planning; Nanjing Road, for example, belongs to two districts to the east and west, and often the Huangpu district wanted to do this and the Jing'an district wanted to do that, which slowed down its development.
After the baptism of the World Expo, the old riverside area of Luwan District has been refreshed, and the positioning of the three districts has become closer to the core of commerce, finance, services and tourism, and the urgent need for overall planning and rational layout has become more prominent.
