What kinds of silver are there?
Silver:
It is a chemical element with chemical symbol Ag (from Latin Argentum) and atomic number 47. It is a silvery white transition metal. A small amount of silver exists in nature in the form of free elemental substance, mainly in ores containing silver compounds. Silver has stable chemical properties, low activity, high price, good thermal and electrical conductivity, is not easy to be corroded by chemicals, and is soft and malleable. Its reflectivity is extremely high, reaching over 99%.
1 .millipede silver: refers to silver with a silver content of 99.9%. This kind of silver material, because of its own characteristics, makes 99.9% silver soft, which is not suitable for the increasingly rich and exaggerated modeling requirements of modern popular jewelry. It is mostly used to make plain silver jewelry (pure silver jewelry, excluding gold or inlay). Because it is 99.9% silver, it is easy to identify from the appearance, which is the true color of silver.
2. Foot silver: refers to silver with a silver content of 99%. Before Qianzu silver came out, it was the highest purity of silver for a long time. The highest purity in history is the silver ingot of the Qing Dynasty. Through modern technology testing, its content is as high as 99.6%, and its physical properties are similar to those of Qianzu Drink. Most of the jewelry used is pure silver.
3.925 pure silver is pure silver containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, which is an internationally recognized standard for pure silver. Now 925 silver is generally plated with platinum (white rhodium) to prevent silver from yellowing and blackening under oxidation or vulcanization. At present, 925 silver is mostly used in the silver jewelry market, which is often used for inlaying, imitating K gold and platinum styles.
4. Macarthur: Generally, Macarthur is all silver, that is, the silver content is 999 per thousand. However, many Thai silver ornaments on the market are imitation Thai crafts, and 925 silver is vulcanized into "ancient silver effect", which is also called "Macarthur". It is extremely irresponsible for some domestic merchants to regard some alloy jewelry as antiques, also known as Macarthur. The real Macarthur must be made of pure silver. Thai silver jewelry is exquisite, more like a work of art, beautiful, generous, fashionable, but not ordinary.
5. Tibetan silver: Many people will buy some so-called silverware when they come back from tourism, but it will turn black and look bad soon. Why is this? In fact, the traditional Tibetan silver should be 30% silver and 70% copper, but now the traditional craft of "Tibetan silver" can't be seen in the market, and most of it is completely replaced by white copper. Generally, the composition without silver is the elegant name of white copper (copper-nickel alloy), so the price is very low. Tibetan silver is generally matched with stones to make small ornaments, and turquoise, coral stone, red and green are more common.
Miao Yin: Miao Yin is not pure silver, but a kind of silver metal peculiar to Miao people. Its contents include silver, copper, nickel and so on. The content of Miao Yin is different, generally between 20% and 60%. The so-called 99.9% pure Miao Yin is basically a lie. Occasionally, the old Miao people really make 90% of the silver at most. The purity of 99.9% cannot be refined by traditional technology.
