The "Yuan Day" in Yuan Day is the Spring Festival nowadays. In this poem, the great poet Wang Anshi wrote about the three traditional customs of Song Dynasty people in celebrating the Spring Festival, namely setting off firecrackers, exchanging peach symbols and drinking Tu Su wine. Below is a simple Yuan Day ancient poem with a picture that I've put together to learn more about the ancient poem "Yuan Day".
New Year's Day
The firecrackers sound a year apart,
The spring breeze sends warmth into Tu Su.
TEEEL, a thousand doors,
Always change the old symbol for the new one.
Note the meaning of the word
yuan day: the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, that is, the Spring Festival.
Firecracker: the bursting sound made by the ancient people when burning bamboo. Used to drive away ghosts and evil spirits, later evolved into firecrackers.
A year in addition: the year is over. In addition, to go.
Tusu: the name of the medicine and wine. In ancient times, it was customary for the whole family to drink the wine soaked in tusu grass at the beginning of the year in order to drive away evil spirits, avoid the plague and seek longevity.
TEEEL: the light at sunrise.
Peach: Peach talisman, an ancient custom in which people wrote the names of two deities, Shencha and Yubi, on peach boards on the first day of the first month of the lunar calendar, and hung them next to the door to suppress evil spirits.
Translation:
In the crackling sound of firecrackers, the old year was sent away to usher in the New Year. The spring breeze sends warmth into the TuSu wine, and at first light, every household takes down the old peach charms and replaces them with new ones to welcome the New Year.
Tu Su wine on the first day of the year
Firecrackers is now a firecracker, change the peach symbols is now sticking Spring Festival couplets, these two Spring Festival customs have been used to this day, but Spring Festival to drink Tu Su wine, which began in the Han Dynasty, the prevalence of Tang and Song dynasty customs, and then gradually disappeared.
So, the Song people in the Spring Festival prevalent drink Tusu wine, in fact, what is going on?
How did Tusu wine get its name?
Legend has it that Tu Su is the name of a broad-leaved herb, and the wine made from this herb is called Tu Su wine. Others say that tusu is an ancient house, and because the wine was brewed in such a house, it was called tusu wine. There is another saying: Tu, is to cut; Su, is the herb, cut the herb to brew wine, brewed wine is "Tu Su wine".
Why Drink Tusu Wine?
Our Tusu Wine was created by Hua Tuo, a famous doctor in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and it is made by steeping rhubarb, atractylodes macrocephala, cinnamon sticks, antifungal, peppercorns, aconite, and epiphyllum in wine. Since the people were most likely to catch diseases like influenza and plague in late winter and early spring, Hua Tuo brewed a medicinal wine and gave it to the people to drink on New Year's Eve, which was said to keep them safe for a year. Later, this prescription was spread by Sun Simiao (miǎo), a famous doctor in the Tang Dynasty. Every year in the month of Lunar New Year, Sun Simiao always gave a packet of medicine to his neighbors, telling them that using this packet of medicine to make wine and drinking it on New Year's Eve could prevent the plague. Passed down through the generations, drinking tusu wine has become a New Year's custom.
What are the rules for drinking Tusu wine on Chinese New Year?
In the past, the rules for drinking Tusu wine were very special. In the past, the rules for drinking Tusu wine were very special. People used to drink wine from the oldest person, but Tusu wine was the opposite, from the youngest person. In other words, when the family gathered to drink Tusu wine, the youngest in the family drank first, and the older the older, the more they drank later, according to the order of children. The reason for this is that a child has gained one year in the New Year, so everyone should congratulate him; while an elderly person has lost one year in his life in the New Year, so he drinks it after dragging it a little bit to express his retention, which contains the meaning of wishing them a long life. This custom of drinking Tusu wine after the first few years has been passed down for many years. In the poem "New Year's Day" written by Su Zhe, a writer of the Song Dynasty, there are two lines like this: "Drinking Tusu wine at the end of the year, I don't realize that I am more than seventy years old." It is this custom that is being talked about.
Background
This poem was written at the time of the author's new policy, when he was first appointed to the post of minister. 1067, Emperor Shenzong succeeded to the throne of the Song Dynasty, and appointed Wang Anshi to be the prefect of Jiangning, and then to be the minister of the Hanlin School, and to be the minister of education, in order to get rid of the political and economic crises that the Song Dynasty was facing and the difficulties of the Liao and Western Xia. In 1068, Emperor Shenzong called Wang Anshi to "enter the pair", and he wrote a letter advocating a change of law. In the following year, he became the Counselor of Government and presided over the change of law. In the New Year of the same year, Wang Anshi saw that every family was busy preparing for the Spring Festival, and associated with the new atmosphere at the beginning of the change of law, he had the feeling to create this poem.

Literary Appreciation
This poem describes the scene of the Spring Festival. A piece of firecrackers sent away the old year, drinking the mellow tusu wine to feel the breath of spring. The rising sun shines on thousands of households, and the peach symbols on the doors of every house are replaced with new ones.
This is a song written in ancient times to meet the New Year's instantaneous scene, taken from folk customs, sensitively ingested the typical material of the common people in the Spring Festival, seized the representative details of life: lighting firecrackers, drinking tusu wine, change the new peach symbols, fully expressed the joyful atmosphere of the New Year's Day, rich in the rich atmosphere of life.
"The sound of firecrackers in a year in addition, the spring breeze sends warmth into the tassel." In the New Year festival firecrackers, this custom has been ancient, has continued to this day. Ancient custom, the first day of the first month of each year, the whole family drink tusu wine, and then use the red cloth to wrap up the dregs, hanging in the door frame, used to "drive away evil spirits" and avoid the plague.
The third line, "TEEEL," follows on from the previous line, which says that every household is bathed in the light of the early spring sunrise. The closing line describes the forwarding of the argument. Hanging peach charms, which is also an ancient folk custom. "The phrase "always replacing the old talisman with a new peach" is a compressed and elliptical syntax.
The poem is the voice of the people. Many poets have noted that this poem expresses the mood and reality, but also has its own metaphorical symbolism, Wang Anshi's poem is full of joy and positive spirit, because he was serving as prime minister, the implementation of new laws. Wang Anshi was a famous reformer in the Northern Song Dynasty. During his term of office, just like people replacing the old peach symbols with new ones in front of their eyes, Wang Anshi abolished the old government and implemented the new one. Wang Anshi was full of confidence in the new government, so it was reflected in the poem with extra cheerfulness. This poem praises the birth of new things as the spring breeze is full of vitality; TEEEL shines on thousands of households, which is not the usual sun, but the beginning of a new life. This is not the usual sun, but the beginning of a new life. The concluding line, "always change the new peach for the old one", expresses the poet's relief and joy at the victory of the Reform and the improvement of the people's life. Which contains a profound philosophy, pointing out that the new things always have to replace the fallen things of this law.
Although the poem uses the technique of white description, trying to render the festive atmosphere of joy, and at the same time, through the custom of renewing the New Year's Day to support their own ideas, the performance of the implicit but not explicit.
