Why is the Suo Bokanyi Monastery in the Serbian Republic famous?

The complex of Sobochani Monastery is still surrounded by thick walls. The church is also a royal mausoleum. After the "Kosovo War", the church of Sopochani was burned by the Turks and was seriously damaged. The reconstruction work was carried out successively in the15th century, the end of16th century and the beginning of17th century, and the monastic life of Sobochani monastery flourished again. 1689, the Turks burned the church again. After this heavy blow, the church was not restored until the 1960 s, and it had been abandoned before. Having been a convent for more than 30 years, Bishop Artemis introduced a little brother to Sobochani Monastery at 1996. The new brother is now actively working to rebuild the monastery and revive the spirit of this important medieval temple.
