Do you know coffee culture?
Origins of Coffee
Coffee was discovered in Ethiopia and was originally consumed whole. It was discovered by chance by a herder who was walking with his goats. He notices his goats eating the berries and thinks they are poisonous, so naturally he becomes worried about his goats. Curious about what goats eat, he tried one of the berries himself and noticed that it had a strong, persistent flavor, that of coffee.
The herder took the coffee cherries back to his friends and family, excited about his new discovery. Exposing the berries to everyone led to a chain reaction of tasting and further exploration of the coffee tree and its beans.
Legend says that Arab traders in Yemen brought coffee beans back to their respective countries from Ethiopia. These traders planted their own coffee trees from the seeds they brought back.
Caffeine in Coffee
In a typical 8-ounce cup of brewed coffee, you can find 95-165mg of caffeine, while a decaf cup will contain 2- 5mg of caffeine. Caffeine content in lattes and mochas is also high, ranging from 63-126mg of caffeine.
Joca's Colombian Freeze-Dried Arabica Instant Coffee has a caffeine content of 2.3% = approximately 70 mg of caffeine (approximately 3 grams) per 0.1 oz of coffee. Colombian freeze-dried Arabica decaffeinated instant coffee contains 0.13% caffeine = approximately 3 mg (approximately 3 grams) of caffeine per 0.1 oz of coffee. In India? Freeze-dried Arabica instant coffee contains 2% caffeine = approximately 60 mg of caffeine (approximately 3 grams) per 0.1 oz of coffee.
Overall, coffee contains more caffeine than coffee. This may be good news for those looking for an instant energy fix, but may cause anxiety and other side effects for others.
