Is gyro playing a world-class intangible cultural heritage?
Gyro, also called "Dele" and "Dangchong" in Yi language, is said to have originated in ancient times. At first, the ancients hunted with sticks and found that sticks could not hunt prey from a long distance. In order to survive, hunters "upgraded" their hunting tools, tied stones to soft vines and threw them out to shoot long-distance prey. Later, everyone found that the thrown stone was easy to break, so they used hard wood bumps instead of stones. Thus, the "combination" of soft rattan and wooden bumps created the early gyro.
Since then, this activity has become a more common traditional sports activity in China, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan and other ethnic minority areas. 202 1 the fifth batch of national intangible cultural heritage representative projects list was published, and Yunnan gyro project was selected.
Introduction to the birthplace of gyro;
Jinggu is one of the birthplaces of gyroscopes, and it is also the area with the most popular gyro activities and the deepest traditional culture, and is known as the "hometown of gyroscopes". Jinggu has a long history of playing gyro. There is a stone tablet in the back hill of Tang Fang Village, Yizhi Township, Jinggu County. According to legend, this is the tomb of ancient tribal leader Reese. According to folklore, he is the inventor and advocate of playing gyro, and is honored as the "God of Gyroscope".
In traditional festivals such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, February 8th of Yi people, Torch Festival and Water-splashing Festival, Jinggu people regard playing with gyro as an important part of the festival. By organizing gyro competitions among towns, villages and villagers' groups, we can enhance their friendship and promote neighborhood harmony and national unity. In the long-term inheritance and development, playing gyro has become a unique cultural symbol of Jinggu.
