What is the moral of zongzi pendant?
Auspicious zongzi was originally used for sacrifice. The ancients would hold sacrificial activities on the fifth day of May every year to pray for God's blessing. Therefore, according to the traditional custom of our country, the zongzi pendant symbolizes auspiciousness and has the meaning of getting rid of illness and keeping safe.
In ancient times, there was a custom for women to eat zongzi to beg for children. Because "Zongzi" is homophonic with "neutron" and "numerous children", the ancients thought that eating Zongzi could get children, continue the family blood and be passed down. Therefore, the zongzi pendant symbolizes the prosperity of people and the full house of children and grandchildren.
To the Warring States Period, Qu Yuan, a doctor of the State of Chu, devoted himself to the Guluo River on the fifth day of May and died. In order to prevent fish and shrimp from hurting Qu Yuan's body, the people of Chu threw zongzi into the river to pay homage to Qu Yuan. Therefore, the zongzi pendant symbolizes admiration and expresses the memory of Qu Yuan.
