Introduction to the Dulong People

The Dulong are the least populated ethnic group among the unique ethnic groups in Yunnan, mainly residing in the valley of the Dulong River in the Gongshan Dulong Nu Autonomous County in northwestern Yunnan, with a part of the Dulong scattered on the two sides of the Nujiang River in Fugong and Vixi Counties. Historically, the Dulong were called "Zizi people" or "Qu people". The Dulong are divided into more than 50 patrilineal clans, and each patrilineal clan is subdivided into a number of fraternal ethnic groups. The traditional way of life of the Dulong is a primitive ****production system centered on the family commune, where the **** produce together and the **** possess the same means of production and living. The head of the family is responsible for handling coordination, the clan *** plows, the daughters-in-law take turns cooking, and the meals are evenly distributed by the housewife on a per capita basis. The clan members are kind and friendly to each other, do not pick up the road, and do not close the house at night.

When young men and women of the Dulong tribe get married, it is customary to drink the wine of the same heart, which indicates that they will never be separated from each other until the end of their lives.

The Dulong people choose an auspicious day to celebrate the New Year in the month of Lunar New Year every year, which is a traditional festival, called "Kachuowo". The festival is celebrated by plagiarizing cows and sacrificing them to heaven, banging gongs, and dancing the "Cow Potzhuang" dance.

The traditional clothing of the Dulong people generally wear black and white intersecting straight strips of linen or cotton clothes, men wear shorts underneath, customary use of a piece of linen from the left shoulder armpit diagonally pulled to the chest, exposed left shoulder and right arm. Women more in the waist tie wear dyed oil vine ring as a decoration, the custom of tattoo face. Men and women do not wear hats, more hair and bare feet. Now the dress has been a big change, women imitate the Lisu wear long-sleeved dress, and wear colorful material bead chain string, men like to cross-body knife, crossbow and arrows.

The Dulong make their living through agriculture, gathering and hunting. During the festival, each ethnic group and tribe will collectively hunt wild animals, kill and slaughter sheep, and the tribal housewife will distribute the food to each family, which they call "sharing food", and there are also plagiarized cattle activities .....
