Introduction of Dong Pipa

The Dong pipa is a plucked instrument favored by the Dong people. It is often used to accompany Dong songs. It is mainly popular in Guizhou, Guangxi and Hunan, where the Dong people live. All Dong villages have drum towers, and during every festival and after labor, men, women and children of the whole village will have fun, play the pipa, pass on songs and sing to each other. When singing pipa songs, Dong singers also often use it to accompany and play their own songs. The Dong people can sing and dance well, and there are various forms of folk songs. The popular and more common Dong songs, passed down from generation to generation by the singers, are divided into lyrical songs, vocal songs, narrative songs, etc. In addition, there are also flute songs and cow-legged zither songs. Dong wind instruments include Dong flute, bamboo membrane pipe, wood leaf, plucked run, reed-sheng, mango tube; stringed instruments include ox-legged zither; plucked instruments include Dong pipa (divided into Dong small pipa, Dong medium pipa, Dong big pipa); percussion instruments include Dong small cymbals, Dong small drums, work, singles, copper chime, sha neng la, change, small gongs, gongs, copper drums, and so on.

The Dong pipa is a Dong plucked string instrument. In Dong language, it is called Ga Heiyuan, Ga Pipa and Ga Bomb. It is popular in Rongjiang, Congjiang and Liping in Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province, Sanjiang and Rongshui in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Dong Autonomous County in Hunan Province.
