Difference between ethnography and interviewing. Traditional anthropological ethnography is a method of fieldwork research that attempts to get inside the culture of a particular group of people and to present a deep description of meanings and behaviors from the inside out through observation and interviews. Interviews are a common method of obtaining information for management consulting. By engaging in conversations with a variety of people in the client organization, the consultant is able to gain access to important subjective issues in the client organization, and the people being interviewed feel that they are contributing to the project.
