Noble female role
Historical origin
"Diancui", as a traditional metalworking skill in ancient China, is an auxiliary type of work in jewelry making. It has existed since ancient times, especially in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, and spread from the court to the people. As a part of traditional opera makeup, many famous actors will tailor a set of exquisite crispy noodles for themselves. Now, because kingfishers are protected animals, real kingfishers are rare, and their production skills are almost lost. The stage of Chinese opera has long been replaced by "Diansi". And the most exquisite Diancui hair accessories, I'm afraid I can only go to the Palace Museum to watch. [2]
The so-called emerald is the feather of kingfisher. Before the invention of dye technology, kingfisher feathers were natural and rare decorative materials, which were often used by jewelers to inlay pearls, precious stones and gold wires. Jade feather decoration has a long history, which can be traced back to the Warring States Period. There is a story about "returning pearls with gifts" in Zuo Zhuan, everything is done wrong, and the box of "Yu Pei Jade Collection" mentioned in it should be decorated with kingfisher feathers [2].
All opera actors need a "head". The so-called "head" refers to the whole hair styling and accessories, which are divided into "soft head" and "hard head". For example, the shape of twelve women in A Dream of Red Mansions borrowed from the sticker in the soft head, which looks like a small CD. "Hard head" is all kinds of blingbling ornaments inserted on the actor's head. Diancui is one of them, and the other two are rhinestones and silver ingots.
major constituent
There are about 50 pieces of Diancui Toumian, including paozi, sideburns, sideburns bats, paotiao, series (triple and quadruple), hexagon, big top flower, edge bat, edge phoenix, partial phoenix, flour flower, pressing sideburns, the last three strips, Baotou couplet, vertical beam, cross beam, back pocket and sunshine.
At that time, these three kinds of ornaments were real kingfisher hair, rhinestones and pure silver, so the cost of the whole suit was very high. Therefore, in the wonderful scene of Farewell My Concubine, Grandpa Yuan gave him a set of rhinestones as a gift, which was so generous that the chin of the person next to him would fall off.
Applicable role
Because of its bright colors and noble texture, it is mainly used for noble female roles, such as Yang Guifei, Du Liniang and Cui Yingying. And Wang Baochuan, a bottom-level working woman struggling in a cold kiln, can only wear silver ingots.
