What are the advantages and disadvantages of NC machining?

NC machining has the following advantages:

(1) The number of tooling is greatly reduced, and complicated tooling is not needed to process parts with complicated shapes. If you want to change the shape and size of parts, you only need to modify the processing program of parts, which is suitable for new product development and modification.

(2) The machining quality is stable, the machining accuracy is high, and the repeatability is high, which meets the machining requirements of aircraft.

(3) In the case of multi-variety and small batch production, the production efficiency is higher, which can reduce the time of production preparation, machine tool adjustment and process inspection, and reduce the cutting time because of the use of the best cutting parameters.

④ It can process complex surfaces that are difficult to be processed by conventional methods, and even some unobservable machined parts.

The disadvantage of NC machining is that machine tools and equipment are expensive and require high level of maintenance personnel.
