What are the manifestations of the mural paintings of the Han burial chambers?

The remains of tomb chamber murals of the Qin Dynasty have not been found so far. But the discovery of Han tomb murals began as early as the early 1920s of this century. The group of hollow-brick murals that came out of Balitai in Luoyang was the first major discovery of mural paintings in Western Han tombs, while the cleaning of the Yingchengzi mural tomb in Jinxian, Liaoning province, in 1931 lifted the veil of mural paintings in Eastern Han tombs. In the following decades, more than forty mural tombs were discovered throughout the country, providing the most important physical information for exploring the development of the art of painting in the Han Dynasty.

The most important mural tombs and tomb murals discovered during this period are: the mural paintings of Bu Qianqiu's tomb in Luoyang, Henan Province, the No. 61 tomb in Luoyang's Burnt Gully, and the mural painting of the tomb in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, "Heavenly Signs", all of which belong to the Western Han Dynasty; the mural paintings of the new Mang Tomb of the Jinguyuan in Luoyang, which belong to the Xinmang Period; the mural paintings of the Han Tomb of the Zaoyuan in Pinglu, Shanxi Province, "Mountain and Water", the mural paintings of the Han Tomb of the Anping in Hebei Province, the mural paintings of the Han Tomb of the Wandu in Hebei Province, as well as the mural paintings in the tomb in Inner Mongolia and the tomb in Beijing. Tomb murals and mural tombs found in Inner Mongolia and Lingeer and so on. They depict the heaven, earth, yin and yang, the five elements, gods and goddesses, birds and beasts, some famous historical stories, carriages and horses, buildings and portraits of the tomb owners, etc. The meaning is complex, but most of them show the life of the tomb owners and the good wishes for the ascension to heaven after their deaths, and hope that the deceased will enjoy a rich life in the underground world created by the artists.
