What is feudalism?
A social system based on the feudal landlord class occupying land and exploiting the surplus labor of farmers (or serfs). Its basic form of exploitation is feudal land rent. Farmers (or serfs) cultivate the land of feudal landlords, and most of the products are deprived by feudal landlords as land rent. Superstructure is mainly a feudal country characterized by hierarchy. The main content of the leading ideology is to maintain the feudal exploitation system and feudal hierarchy and to promote feudal morality. Under the feudal system, the basic opposing classes of society are the landlord class and the peasant (or serf) class. Farmers (or serfs) live in poverty, have no political rights, and their class contradictions and class struggles with the landlord class are very sharp. It is generally believed that China entered the feudal society at the turn of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. 1840 After the Opium War, China became a semi-colonial and semi-feudal society. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), under the leadership of China * * * Production Party, the feudal exploitation system was eliminated.
Feudal society has two meanings: in a narrow sense, it refers to the social structure of enfeoffment system. This formulation first refers to the state structure of Western Europe in the Middle Ages, and there was a similar system in China during the Xia, Shang, Zhou and Pre-Qin periods.
The generalized feudal society is defined by Marx and refers to a social form based on the exploitation of farmers by the landlord class. Medieval Europe and China from 475 BC to AD 1840 were such social forms.
