What is the theoretical basis of TCM?
Guided by the scientific theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, TCM studies the physiological and pathological pharmacology of human body and its relationship with the natural environment from the perspective of "harmony between man and nature", and seeks the most effective methods to prevent and treat diseases. Because of this, any theory, if it does not have the characteristics of the overall concept, is not a complete sense of Chinese medicine. If it is not dynamic, then this theory does not fully grasp the true meaning of traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, although Chinese medicine has long recognized that "holistic view" and "syndrome differentiation and treatment" are the basic characteristics of Chinese medicine theory, in the existing Chinese medicine, almost no one can achieve such a theoretical system that can fully highlight the characteristics of "holistic view" and "syndrome differentiation and treatment", which can not only reveal the laws of yin-yang gasification of zang-fu organs, traffic relations and yin-yang gasification of heaven and earth, but also reveal the laws of symptoms and signs of diseases. For example, from the perspective of holistic view, Chinese medicine has the concept that "healthy qi and evil qi are the basic contradictions that constitute diseases", which should be the theoretical basis for Chinese medicine to determine the name of diseases. However, because it almost lost the guiding role and value of the theory of Yin-Yang and Five Elements, it is inevitable that the difference and connection between "cause" and "syndrome" can not be distinguished, and it is recognized that "disease" and "syndrome" are the basic elements of diseases, but they are confused with "cause" and "syndrome", and even the concepts of diseases in different logical categories are finally confused. If this is the case, its so-called syndrome differentiation and treatment is actually a kind of nondescript hybrid who replaces disease with "syndrome" or "symptom", which is also the crux of the fact that Chinese medicine can't really show its own characteristics and advantages on a large scale under the strong pressure of western medicine.
