Recently, foreign media exposed the spy photos of the new BMW iX3, which also indicates that this car will be listed soon. All kinds of news show that the new car will be officially unveiled as soon as next year. To understand this car, let's start with its name. BMW I is its fourth sub-brand, and all I's are pure electric vehicles, such as i3 and i8, which I believe everyone is already familiar with. IX is a brand-new series under the I brand. IX will be named as the prefix of pure electric SUV. IX3 will be the first pure electric SUV launched by the company, which is of great significance. At the same time, BMW also said that at least 25 pure electric vehicles will be listed before 2023.

IX3 is the first model in BMW series to adopt the company's fifth-generation eDrive technology, with a 2 10kW/400Nm rear-drive motor. BMW said that this is the first electric car that does not require rare earth metals. IX3 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a net energy rating of 74kWh. According to the preliminary data and WLTP test standard, the battery life of iX3 should be 440 kilometers. BMW claims that the battery of iX3 is set in an "extremely flat position" on the vehicle floor, and the storage space for passengers and luggage is the same as that of the traditional X3 model. In order to further improve the ecological usability of future cars, BMW is planning to turn the battery pack of iX3 into a fixed power plant after the service life of the car ends.

In appearance, compared with the BMW iX3 concept car, we can see that the similarity with the final version is still relatively high. As we can see in the spy photos, the front grille of the final version of iX3 keeps the traditional style, not as exaggerated as the concept car, and the front bumper is not so unique. In the previously released iX3 concept car, its charging port is located in the left front of the car, but from the exposed photos of the car in the charging state, it can be seen that the charging hole of the final version of the car is located in the right rear side of the car body, and its shape is the same as that of a traditional fuel car. It also got a brand-new set of alloy wheels, and some details of the car body were modified, adding a lot of blue elements to show its particularity. We can clearly feel that iX3 is more in line with X3.

Inside, the new car adopts a full LCD digital instrument panel, and the center console adopts the classic BMW design style, with a large-size floating LCD screen, air conditioning ports and physical multimedia buttons below the LCD screen, which are both traditional and fashionable. At present, most pure electric vehicles adopt the whole large-screen central control design, eliminating all physical buttons, so the minimalist design is very popular with consumers, such as Tesla, an industry model.

But in German cars, BBA is willing to stick to this traditional design style, which is acceptable considering that its buyers are mostly middle-aged people in the backbone of society. After all, their thoughts are relatively conservative, and their acceptance of avant-garde things is not as good as that of young people. Things that are too high-tech are not easily recognized. It is reported that the new iX3 will be produced at BMW Brilliance Automobile Factory, a joint venture in Shenyang, China. Pure electric vehicle is an important support of BMW brand's "first strategy" in the future, and it is also a very important part of the four themes of A.C.E.S (automation, digitalization, electrification and * * *).

According to BMW's future plan, iX3 will launch a variety of pure electric vehicles, including iNext and i4.
