Anji Shengwang's Qinglong Ancient Temple in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province

Chaozhou Qinglong Ancient Temple is located on the east side of Nanmen South Embankment (i.e., the south embankment at the west end of the Han River Bridge in Chaozhou), the temple faces the Han River and sits next to the embankment, a very unique geographic architecture. It belongs to Chaozhou City Cultural Relics Protection Unit. Created in the Ming Dynasty, because of the common green snake slithering out of the temple, not hurt people and come and go without a trace, so it is called the ancient temple of the Green Dragon. After generations of turmoil and war, once suffered damage, after repeated repairs, only today's scale. And the establishment of the "Chaozhou Wang coup traditional culture research society", the main hall door inscription "Qinglong ancient temple", the main door horizontal inscription "Anji sacred temple", so the temple is also known as Anji Wang Temple.

Previously, the Qinglong Temple was also required to enter the temple door from the south embankment on the east, which may have been given by Zhao Ji of Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty. On both sides of a shrine, a theater. From the temple through the alley in front of the temple is a half-moon shaped Temple Cheng, in front of the ancient temple has three doors: in the door stone plaque is "Qinglong ancient temple. Door couplet: the boat as a shuttle weaving the river in the embroidery, the tower as a pen to write articles in the sky. Since the boat and the Phoenix Tower can be seen in front of the temple, it is impressive and has been recited for a long time. This couplet was written by Zhuo Yanchun (1839-1890), a Huilai scholar. The side gates on both sides of the main gate of the temple are smaller, with stone plaques inscribed with "Chongde" and "Yijiang", and the smaller gates also have door couplets, but they are forgotten because they are not as brilliant and practical as those written by Zhuo Yanchun.

The temple's Anji Shengwang statue is clad in a yellow embroidered gold thread dragon robe wearing a crown, the gold body is up to eight feet tall, carved from hard nanmu. But it's not the small statue of the god that Shi Shoxue brought from Yunnan, which was previously placed at the Xie clan shrine in Nanmen. It is said to be well preserved to this day. The statue of the Holy King in the temple is much bigger than the statues of the First and Second Ladies on both sides to show the might and sanctity. The temple also has the Immortal Master's Palace and the Official Hall. In front of the official hall, there is a tablet of Xie Shao Cang from Chaozhou, which is said to be the statue of Mr. and Mrs. Wang that was brought to the temple when he was an official in Yunnan, but there is no record of Xie Shao Cang in the Records of Haiyang County and the Records of the Chaozhou Municipal Government. In the corner there are two other saintly masters, presumably the qinzhi who sent the plaque inscribed by Zhao Jing, Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty, back then. There are also the Land Master and the Flower Master and Flower Mother who bless the growth of children. In front of the shrine hall, there are a pair of stone lions and four stone pillars, the tops of the pillars and beams are carved with flowers and birds, and there is a wall surrounding the embankment, and an open carp is molded outside the wall along the river. Everywhere in the temple, the water flows into the Han River through the fish mouth. Fish mouth ten meters below the beach in the sand known as "Feng Kui (stomach)" sand wells, dry season and drought wells in the river water is not shallow and for the residents of the territory to pick to drink, it is very magical.

Every year in the first month of the lunar calendar, Anji Shengwang makes a trip to the city, and thousands of people in the city (there is a painting in front of the temple that records this historical event) compete to welcome the god, and those who go to the oceans and merchants especially regard him as the god of protection for their career advancement. (Due to many reasons, this kind of grandeur has not appeared for decades) Legend 1: According to legend, in the Ming Dynasty, outside the south gate of Chaozhou, there was a man named Xie Shaocang, who was the official of Yongchang Prefecture in Sichuan Province. One year, there was a long drought without rain, the fields lost their harvests, and unscrupulous merchants took advantage of the opportunity to raise the price of food, so the people could not fill their stomachs, and starving corpses were everywhere. Xie Shaocang had no time to consult the court, so he opened the barn privately to provide relief to the starving people. Afterward, the court punished him by exposing him to the sun for seven days. On the sixth day of exposure, there was not a breath left in his body. Suddenly, a large cloud flew in the distance, stopped at the top of Xie Shaocang's head blocking the sun, long time, he looked up, only to see the end of the cloud sat a man. After he survived, he told his townspeople about the man's appearance and tried to find the man to repay him for saving his life. An old man told him that the man was Wang Kou, a meritorious official of Western Shu in the Three Kingdoms. After his death, the people built a temple in his honor, called the "Wang Cou Temple", which was located nearby. Xie Shaocang found the temple and went inside to see the statue of the man who saved his life that day. Later, when Xie returned to his hometown, he made a statue of Wang Kan and brought it back to Chaozhou. At that time, the Han River flooded, the situation was very critical, the statue of the god into the riverside "Green Dragon Temple", the water receded, to save the ancient city. The people of Chaozhou gave all the credit to Mr. and Mrs. Wang, and named him "Anji Shengwang", commonly known as "Grand Master". From then on, the temple's incense burned brightly, and the saint's reputation grew bigger and bigger.

Legend 2: During the Huangyou period of Emperor Renzong of the Northern Song Dynasty, Yi Zhigao of the Guangyuan Prefecture arrogated to himself the title of King of the Southern Heavenly Kings and changed his name to Jingrui. Due to the wide source of land connected to the Chaozhou, so the rebels according to the danger, the emperor Zhaozhen sent Yang Wenguang to level the southern barbarians eighteen holes. Song army marching south along the river when there is a green snake attached to the boat and the journey smoothly, the battle is successful and all the holes are leveled, when the division Yang Wenguang Zaozheng Song Renzong. Zhao Zhen then sealed Chaozhou green snake as "Anji Ling Wang".

Legend III: One year, a countryside outside of Chaozhou, an aunt and sister-in-law to the "Green Dragon Temple" incense. The sister-in-law wanted to pray for a son, and the sister-in-law wanted to pray for a good match. Upon entering the temple, both of them were attracted by the statue of St. King Anji. In her heart, she secretly thought, "It would be nice to have a man as beautiful as the Grand Master as her husband. My sister-in-law guessed what was on her mind and said, "Auntie, please ask the Great Lord to give you a husband like him! If you don't dare to pray, I'll pray for you." Then, while praying, she threw a cup and asked for a sign. As a result, the cup was a winning one and the sign was a good one, so the aunt and sister-in-law went home happily. But as soon as they arrived home, the youngest sister fell violently ill and died. That night, the Grand Master dreamt to the temple priest that the girl had a crush on him and he had a crush on the girl. He asked the temple priest to inform the girl's family that before her funeral, her face would be carved into an idol and placed in the temple as "Lady Anji Shengwang". The family knew that the Grand Master could not be offended, so they had to do as they were told. One year to welcome the God race, Anji St. King's palanquin through the "Zhenjun Palace", he found the shrine in the palace on the Zhenjun Mrs. like a flower like jade, do not feel moved. After that, he often went to Zhenjun Palace. Zhenjun Palace in the Zhenjun master, was originally the famous doctor Sun Simiao in the Sui and Tang dynasties. Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty appointed him as "Dr. Guozi" he did not accept, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty appointed him a high-ranking official he did not want to, and later people called him "Sun Zhenzhen" and "Zhenjun". The "Zhenjun Palace" was cold and sparse, and the Zhenjun Master was poor. However, when King Anji was willing to visit the palace, the couple was naturally very happy. On one occasion, the King of Anji sought out the True Monarch to gamble on the twelve characters of "Flower Party", saying that the price for the right flower character would be one to ten. Master Zhenjun tried to win some Yuanbao to make a living. Who knows that even the betting and losing, the amount is huge, can not be repaid, Anji Shengwang took the opportunity to propose to the True Lord of the wife as collateral. Master Zhenjun did not agree, Anji Shengwang sank his face and threatened to trample down Zhenjun Palace. Mrs. Zhenjun was greedy for riches and wealth, and said she was willing to be the concubine of King Anji. The True Monarch regretted it and watched his wife being taken away by others. From then on, Anji Sage King had a second wife.
