Related history:
Heping Ancient Bridge was built in Song Dynasty for Dafeng, a Buddhist monk. Zen master Dafeng, formerly known as Ling Lin OG, was born in Wenzhou, Zhejiang. Song Shaosheng was a scholar in the second year and served as a magistrate in Shaoxing. Ling Lin is knowledgeable and proficient in medicine and architecture. Dissatisfied with the corruption in state affairs, he gave up his official position as a monk and became the abbot of Lingquan Temple in Haoping Township (now heping town) in Chaoyang, calling himself a monk in Dafeng.
Monk Dafeng sent medicine to the local people and proposed to build Haoping Bridge. Monks and scholars personally hand-painted the design of the bridge and went to Fujian to hire famous bridge builders. In the first year of Song Jianyan (1 127), Haoping Bridge was completed, and the banks of Lianjiang became thoroughfares.
