What are the causes of lumbar spinal stenosis?
There are two main reasons for spinal stenosis:
One is congenital spinal stenosis, which is mainly because some patients have congenital structural abnormalities. We generally define spinal stenosis less than 10 cm as congenital spinal stenosis.
Second, secondary spinal stenosis, that is, some degenerative spinal stenosis, such as facet hypertrophy and hyperplasia, intervertebral disc degeneration, ligamentum flavum hypertrophy, etc., all cause spinal canal bony channel stenosis, causing some symptoms caused by the compression of dural sac or nerve root. There are also some diseases, such as spinal fracture or spinal tuberculosis, which may also affect the structure of spinal canal and cause secondary spinal stenosis.
