Do you know the characteristics of traditional Chinese clothing, Hanfu, Pipa sleeves?
Pipa sleeves are used for sleeves on dark clothes and other clothing. Its shape is like a pipa, with large sleeves and small openings, and narrow armpits, hence the name pipa sleeves. The sleeve body below the elbow is rounded and wide like the sagging part of a cow's neck. The obvious constriction at the end of the sleeve is narrow, which is called "turn", due to the cuff. The sleeve body of the Pipa sleeve is curved, making it easier for the elbows to extend and bend, and the cuffs can be tightened to facilitate daily activities. In the early period (Han Dynasty), Pipa sleeves were also called "hanging Hu sleeves", which were made to imitate the pouch on the neck of a cow and resemble the shape of a beard. Pipa sleeves only appeared in the Ming Dynasty. The arc of the sleeves is significantly smaller than that of the Hu sleeves, and there is basically no sagging or accumulation (the Hu sleeves must have sagging or accumulation). The most distinctive feature is that the sleeves of the Pipa sleeves are close to the cuffs. When the cuff is closed, the lower end of the cuff gradually closes upward. Generally, the cuff does not connect to the sleeve edge more than the cuff edge connects to the sleeve edge.
