When did modern ink painting rise?
The creation of modern ink painting originated in the early 1980s and rose in the middle and late 1980s. As soon as it came into being, it attracted great attention, and in the 1990 s, it attracted extensive attention from academic circles and critics.
Modern ink painting and traditional ink painting belong to different painting concepts. Modern ink painting is basically the same as China traditional ink painting in the use of tools and materials such as water, ink, paper and pens, but there is no necessary connection between them in the concept of painting. In the concept of painting, traditional ink painting pursues the traditional cultural spirit of both form and spirit, while modern ink painting is supported by western modernist cultural concepts.
In fact, the appearance of modern ink painting means China's logical choice and thinking in the face of the modern world, so it is not an accidental phenomenon. The Chinese Painting Biennale, with Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Shanghai as its starting places, has combined the "Breakthrough of Chinese Painting" with many China painters and visual artists year after year, forming a huge artistic tide.
This year included the transformation of Chinese painting from landscape to city, from concreteness to abstraction, from plane rule to multi-dimensional artistic vision, from traditional techniques to realism, exaggeration and changeable techniques. Even Wu Guanzhong, a master of Chinese painting, stood up and waved his hand and put forward the viewpoint that "pen and ink equals zero" and "form is content", thus pushing the ink painting movement to a higher peak.
