Why is fencing unpopular in China?

Fencing is one of fencing sports. Athletes hold slender elastic steel swords, wear masks and prescribed clothes to compete on a rectangular field. According to the specified time and the number of swords in the stab (split), the outcome is decided.

Fencing is a traditional sport with a long history. As early as ancient times, the sword was a tool for human beings to fight and hunt wild animals in order to survive. With the development of human history, swords developed from stones and bones to bronze and iron, and finally to steel. As a weapon of war, it has gradually entered the historical stage.

However, fencing is still an unpopular event in China, lacking mass base. The current situation of fencing in China is that several star athletes work hard and are forced to grit their teeth. In other words, the mass base is relatively poor and no more people pay attention to it. Therefore, the training of reserve talents can't keep up. Participatory fencing in China is still in its infancy, so we think that fencing training will have a high growth rate in the next few years, and simple member management will not become the main source of income for fencing clubs in the short term. In the future, it is hoped that fencing will become a real competitive event in China, win a gold medal in the Olympic Games and let more teenagers choose fencing as a lifelong sport.
