The Inheritance Significance of Zhongshan Saltwater Songs

Tanzhou is the birthplace of Zhongshan folk songs. In the fifties and sixties of last century, the salty water songs of Zhongshan once flourished. During the Cultural Revolution, salty water songs were banned, and the ten-year fault had a great influence on Tanzhou salty water songs. A 70-year-old may still have a clear memory, while a 50-year-old can only sing a little. With the passage of time, famous singers such as He, Liang and so on, who have been well-known in the whole country and the whole province since the 1950s, passed away one after another. At present, there are no more than 10 people in Tanzhou who can sing salty songs systematically, and most of them are old.

Coupled with the influx of foreign cultures and the changes in the cultural awareness and value orientation of the younger generation, the ecological environment of salt water pine has undergone great changes. The survey shows that most local people don't know what salty water songs are, and the endangered situation of salty water songs can be imagined.

The state attaches great importance to the protection of intangible cultural heritage. On May 20th, 2006, Zhongshan Xianshui Song was approved by the State Council to be included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
