The term "family style" was first used in the works of Pan Yue, a writer of the Western Jin Dynasty. Xiahou Zhan, a writer of the Western Jin Dynasty, supplemented the six "pith poems" in the Book of Songs, which had no text, into the "Poems of the Zhou", and showed them to Pan Yue. Pan Yue thought that these poems were not only gentle and elegant, but also showed the nature of filial piety and fraternal duty. In order to harmonize with his friends, Pan Yue wrote "Poems on Family Customs", describing his own family's customs: "绾发绾发, hair also stops at the temples. Day and day, respect is also prudent. The family is dedicated to its parents. The crane is not in harmony, and the salary is not paid for. I am not sure if I will ever be able to build my own church, but I will always be able to fulfill my responsibilities to my parents. I have been trained by Yifang, and my family's way of life is clear. I would not dare to be desolate, and I would think three times a day." In the poem, the author does not describe his family history, but encourages himself by praising his ancestor's virtues and praising his own family traditions.

The words "family style" and "scholarly family," "worldly family," "powerful family," "big family" and "big family" were used in the poem. Whether it was the local powerful clans, which had their roots in clans and were characterized by force, or the famous families, which were marked by officials and eunuchs and were characterized by culture, they monopolized the main resources of the whole society by being politically powerful, economically occupying a wide area of land, and culturally passing on their family knowledge. In addition to the maintenance of the gate system through the system of nine products and the marriage relationship, self-preservation of the gateway, marking the family style, is also the means of the scholars in this period to resist the imperial power and the cold people encroachment of the fishery.

After the two Jin dynasties, the term became popular, especially in the Northern Dynasties, but also widely used. From the beginning of its genesis, it was often used interchangeably with "the style of the door". From "the disciples and officials all over the world, who were very courteous and sincere, who were respectful and prudent, and who were the teachers of the world, Han's ten thousand stone family style and Chen Ji's family law were nothing but the same, and the sons of the sons were so beautiful that they filled the court with green and purple, which was the celebration of their accumulated goodness" (The Book of Wei, Volume 58), to "a young man who is pure in his desires, who is good at learning, who has the style of the family" (The Book of Northern Qi, Volume 58), and "a young man with little desire and a good sense of learning. "(Book of Northern Qi, vol. 42), "When Chang was a teenager, he wrote the Ming Tang Fugue. Although the excellent together not enough, but the talent system can be seen, see the salty said that there is a family style carry on" ("Zhou book" volume 38), and so on.

Historical documents refer to the word family style, often implies a sense of inheritance of tradition. For example, "There were people in Qi, and they flourished in Si. The rest of them are elegant and Confucian, each endowed with a family style. The family's style is endowed by the rest of the literate and refined Confucians, and the family's style is endowed by all of them. The word "endowed" here vividly conveys the lower to the upper, after the former inheritance of acceptance. As for the abundance of the words "not losing the family style", "keeping the family style", "Keshao family style", "Shiqi family style", and "family style Keji", etc., all reflect this feature.

Beijing Zhou Yu Xin's "Mourning Jiangnan Fugue" preface, "Pan Yue's literary style, the beginning of the family style; Lu Ji's rhetoric, the first Chen Shide," the family style of Shide as the highest priority subject matter. At that time, all the big families took "keeping the family custom" as the most important thing.

Family style, as the culture and tradition of a family, expresses the temperament and customs of a family, reflecting the differences of a family from other families. It is a neutral concept and does not necessarily have a positive meaning. Some families may be industrious and frugal, loyal and courteous; others may be deceitful and mean, loitering and violent.

Because of this, the family style, family style or praise or derogatory, also coexist in historical documents. For example, the Wei Book, Volume 38 says: "Diao's world has honor and fortune, but the family style is not very clean, for the time despised." Volume 47 also has: "and after the death of Dao will be, the family style decline, the children and grandchildren are more illegal, the curtain is thin mixed filth, for the commentators are despised." Volume 49 of the Book of Sui also says: "Zi Shi is not talented, Chongji is not structured, dry discipline to violate the right to fall the family style, pity!" It can be seen, even in traditional society, is regarded as a long time, following the world long, only farming and reading, loyalty, honesty and such a number of good qualities.
