What is the Eastern Orthodox Church
The Eastern Orthodox Church (EOC) is one of the three major Christian denominations, along with Catholicism and Protestantism, that follow the Christian traditions handed down from the Eastern Roman Empire.
The Orthodox Church is still not recognized by the Chinese government, but there is official recognition of the activities of the "Chinese Orthodox Church," which now includes four parishes in Harbin, Ergun, Urumqi and Yining. Thirteen Chinese Orthodox believers from Beijing, Hebei, Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shanghai and Tianjin are studying at the Moscow Theological Seminary, the Sretenskaya Theological Seminary and the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary in Russia.
