The History of Gao Bei Tulou Cluster

The Chengqi Building has attracted much attention and esteem because of its grand scale, unique structure and marvelous layout.

Chengqilou, built by Jiang Jiejie (1635-1719), the fifteenth ancestor of the Jiang family name in Gaotou, took 81 years to complete in 1708, the forty-seventh year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty. During these 81 years, when the building was being rammed, the weather was ideal and good, so in order to thank God for his help, the local people also called it "Tianshuilou". At that time, Zeng Jiushou, the governor of Yongding (the governor of Yongding from 46 to 50 years of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty), together with Li Shimao, the oracle, and Wu Fay, the trainer, visited Chengqi Building, and they all admired Jiang Jie's spirit and performance, and Zeng Jiushou presented him with a gold-lettered plaque of "The Light of the State Family". This plaque is still well preserved.
