There are two main purposes of the Brush Tower, one is to brush items and the other is to brush experience by making the monsters in the tower fall from a high place. When the tower is placed on the surface it can provide good spawn rates during the day because it is one of the few dark environments, but at night the spawn rate plummets because when the entire surface is dark, there is enough room elsewhere to support spawns.

When the Brush Tower is built underground there is a separate spawn rate, hostile monsters will always be present in your personal spawn range while you are mining, but their spawn rate depends on the number of dark caverns around you, which are also capable of allowing monsters to spawn. When the Brush Tower is built in the sky, it has a higher spawn rate throughout the day because it is the only place where monsters can spawn． However, building this structure is harder to do in Survival Mode because when you go mining, they stop working altogether In order to get the drop items, you have to stay in the sky.
