Background of Establishment:
In 1950, the First National Health Work Conference was held. The conference set unity between Chinese and Western medicine as one of the important guidelines for health work, completely corrected the old society left over the idea of belittling, discriminating against and rejecting traditional Chinese medicine, and developed China's unique traditional moral system.
In June 1954, Chairman Mao Zedong gave instructions: "Immediately set up a research organization for Chinese medicine, enlist good Chinese medicine practitioners to conduct research, send good Western medicine practitioners to study Chinese medicine, and participate in the research work with them."
