Which 3 guitars should you own?

Which 3 guitars you own depends entirely on the type of music you play, what your band's needs are, whether you record at home or not, too many unknowns to give a simple answer.

So if you're a touring band playing 80's style heavy metal, all 3 of your guitars should be Floyd rose equipped super strats and similar pickups. One would be kept in the tuning you use most, one would be kept in the second tuning you use most, and the third would be kept when one of the other two tunings breaks.

On the other hand, if you just like to sit at home and record on your computer, you'll get the most out of the range having an acoustic (some kind of dreadnought), a generic electronic (like a 335), and a bass.

If you're a serious avant-garde metal fan, you might want a super strat, some sort of wide-range monster that annoys fans, and an acoustic (haunting part, don't forget your chorus pedal).

If you're a jazz player, you probably want a really good jazz box (like a New Yorker or something), plus something semi-hollow (for a louder, easier-to-feedback sound system), and an acoustic, maybe even a nylon string.

If you're a blues fan, you'd probably want something with humbuckers (like a 335), something with single coils (like a TV for when other guitarists play humbuckers), and maybe a ****ing chiming guitar.

If you're like most amateur armchair guitarists, you're going to be leading the shit-tossing you started but can't stand to sell (which is going through too much, plus there's a lot of stickers and dents and poop finished, and you're not going to get the 75 bucks), and have to much better-playing Asian-made guitars for you to graduate, every day, and hand over the working guitars for an unfinished project is always a good idea. Another $75 and 100 man-hours to complete, or at least playable.

For example, if you happen to be a prince, you'll want a TV broadcaster with a tortoiseshell pickguard, a couple of cloud guitars, a gold one to go with your purple dress pants, and a white one to go with your gold smoking jacket.

I could go on and on, but I think my point is proven. We need to know more about the players before we make a decision.
