Mazda's black tech is a head-turner

Brown Ni Suki

When it comes to Mazda, in addition to sitting in it will be stuck in the car this terrier, more important is that this to sell wine bottles corks started and then transformed the company, has always insisted on their own interpretation of the word automotive - playing with no one asked to understand the technology. Today, we'll take a look at some of Mazda's various "head-turning" black technologies over the years.

01?Rotor engine

The most representative of Mazda's black technology is definitely the rotor engine. Mazda from the company's inception did not create as much faith in God car or speed machine as Mitsubishi, Nissan, Toyota, Honda, but the status of the RX series from its introduction of 1985 to the present, has never been shaken. It's the best and only in the sports car world.

Mazda, as the first Japanese manufacturer to win the Spa 24 Hours, used the RX-7, the champion model of the year, and the success of the RX-7, of course, is not without its heart - the rotor. But long before the RX series was born, Mazda mass-produced the first-generation rotor engine (10A) in 1965 and utilized it in the series/cosmo.

Compared to conventional engines, rotor engines are not only simpler in structure, but also lighter in weight, and can be made to rev higher and produce more power. The most famous of these is the R26B - a four rotor engine. With a total displacement of 2622cc and an output of over 900hp, this engine was used in the 767 and 787B, the only Japanese prototype to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

02 Soul Red

Soul Red paint simply means that there is an extra layer of semi-transparent red paint over the regular paint, which ensures that no matter what the angle or light, the paint just looks deeper and more advanced than the rest of the car. This multi-layer paint process is usually only found on luxury cars like Rolls-Royce, but Mazda has popularized it.

In order to achieve a unique ratio of transparency and color depth for the Soul Red, Mazda's R&D team designed a new coating structure that is the opposite of the traditional three-layer Pearl paint.

In order to achieve "Soul Red", in addition to the theory there is also a need for even more impressive coating technology. Reflective layer? Translucent layer? Transparent layer of the three-layer structure, seemingly simple, but in fact is a very difficult technical subject, but Mazda has long insisted on innovation and research coating technology, technology, so we see the current production of the Soul Red.

03?SKYACTIV-X?compression-ignition technology

Following the rotor engine, Mazda has been grinding a sword for fifty years. After making everyone here wait 50 years, it has finally launched a brand new engine, the SKYACTIV-X (Genesis-X) engine, which is used in the new Enclave. This is the world's first "homogeneous compression-ignition technology mass-produced gasoline engine".

In this era of research into new energy sources and hybrids, Mazda has come up with a brand new idea - Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI). This idea was actually conceptualized a long time ago, and many car companies have studied it, with generations of engineers, generations of professors, starting from all different directions. After many, many car companies thought there was no solution, only Mazda made compression ignition technology.

Where exactly is compression ignition good? Mazda gave the answer is - thin combustion. In layman's terms, this means: give gasoline more air and let it burn for all it's worth, at which point more air is heated and expands, which pushes the piston to do its work. This reduces the amount of energy dissipated to the cylinder; with more air, and, the cylinder temperature is low, NOx emissions are reduced.

To summarize briefly, homogeneous compression ignition technology can significantly reduce fuel consumption and harmful emissions, and fuel consumption can be as low as nearly the same level as a hybrid car. And its theoretical thermal efficiency can reach 48 percent, which is 7 percent higher than Toyota's Dynamic?Force?Engine. That's the beauty of compression ignition, and that's the beauty of Mazda.

Lastly, of course, we have to say "respect?" to Mazda's R&D team, although "paranoid", but the persistence of the word "automobile" is always the same, is a technological milestone, and is the pride of every Mazda fan.
