What is a welding robot? How do you classify the things you usually use?
What is a welding robot? Robot welding is a fully automated welding process by using mechanized programmable tools (robots) to perform welding and machining parts.
Although processes such as gas shielded metal arc welding are usually automated, they are not necessarily equivalent to robot welding, because operators sometimes prepare materials to be welded. Robot welding is usually used for resistance spot welding and arc welding in high-volume applications, such as automobile industry.
Robot welding is a relatively new application of robotics, although robots were first introduced into American industry in the 1960s. It was not until 1980s that robots were widely used in spot welding in automobile industry, and the use of robots in welding started. Since then, the number and application of industrial robots have greatly increased. However, gas growth is mainly limited by high equipment costs and high-yield applications.
