Distribution area of Chaozhou woodcarving
Chaozhou woodcarving is a folk carving art in Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, which is mainly used to decorate buildings, furniture and sacrificial utensils. This skill is mainly popular in Lianshang Village and Xi Du Village, Yixi Town, Xiangqiao District, and also spread to Raoping, Shantou, Chaoyang District, Jieyang, Jiexi, Puning, Lufeng, Dabu, Wuhua, Xingning, Meixian District, Meizhou City and other counties and cities and coastal areas in southeast Fujian.
Due to the wide distribution area, there are differences in local styles. As far as Chaoshan and Xingmei areas are concerned, the layout of woodcarving in Chaoshan area is complex, the structure is tight and delicate, and it is good at expressing continuous plots. In Meizhou area, wood carving techniques are concise and there are not many characters, which is characterized by highlighting the main line of the story.
