Cultural customs of Yao nationality

Yao belief belongs to polytheism. In the past, Yao people believed that everything was animistic and worshipped nature. Every New Year, they sacrificed village gods, family gods, water gods, wind gods, rain gods, Raytheon, tree gods, mountain gods and so on, and burned incense. For every working procedure in production, such as hunting, cutting mountains, gathering, cultivating land, sowing, transplanting rice, etc. Please ask the teacher to choose an auspicious day and hold a sacrifice.

Pan Yao and Shanziyao mainly farm in the mountains. They believe that mountains are controlled by mountain gods, and they must worship them to reap a bumper harvest. Therefore, when hunting wild boar, goats, yellow meat and other beasts that spoil crops, the owner or Taoist priest should first whisper to the gods and pray for the mountain gods to bless their crops. After getting their prey, they must sacrifice their heads to the mountain gods before distributing them.
