Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, was frozen in the Middle Ages.
Historically, this tower was often invaded by foreign countries. As a passive defensive measure, the city wall was built in13rd century, and in16th century, a wall with a thickness of 3m and a height of16m was built to protect the city. There are 46 towers on this 4-kilometer-long city wall, which formed the strongest defense system in northern Europe at that time. After years of erosion, nearly half of it has been lost, leaving about 2 kilometers of city walls and 26 towers. Approaching the gray brick wall, the mottled convex-concave wall makes people feel the scars left by hundreds of years of wind and rain. Looking up at the sturdy watchtower and the red tile spire covered on it will not make people feel afraid, but will stand at attention to welcome guests like a guard of honor.
After passing through the gate of the city wall, we entered the old city. The old town of Tallinn is divided into two parts: the upper town and the lower town. The mall, called Zuotang Mountain, is a highland covering 7 hectares. Historically, it was a gathering place for upper class, religious class and feudal dignitaries. At present, the center and parliament of the Estonian government are still sitting in Mount Hall. The city center is the residence of businessmen and craftsmen. There are only two roads from Tangshan to downtown, one is called Long Leg Street and the other is called Short Leg Street. Leg-long streets are wider and flatter, but the road is far away. In the past, horses and chariots were the main transportation routes leaving Tang Tang. Short leg street is narrow, curved and steep, but the distance is very close. This is a shortcut to leave Tang Tang.
And the city hall square are located in the core of the old city. The city hall built in 404 is the only well-preserved city hall in Northern Europe.
Gothic city hall. Form a vibrant business district around the city hall, where businesses, shops and restaurants can be seen everywhere. The spacious town hall square has been a gathering place for people for hundreds of years, witnessed numerous celebrations, festivals and gatherings, and still welcomes tourists today.
The streets in the old city don't look straight, but at first glance they are always winding. Although the paved road surface is uneven, it can stand the polishing of time and has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. The houses on both sides of the street are not too high, strictly abide by their own historical costumes and are not moved by the new trend. Walking on the winding street, there is always a feeling of beautiful scenery and winding paths, which is difficult for a modern metropolis to do. The old city is basically preserved according to its original historical appearance, which is both like a historical scene and a spirit. The residents here live a quiet and comfortable life, and traditional costumes, traditional diets, traditional customs and traditional festivals are integrated into their daily lives. 1997, UNESCO listed the old town of Tallinn as a world cultural heritage.
