What are the employment prospects of journalism graduates?

Thank you for inviting me ~ Journalism has always been a popular major, and people in the industry are generally optimistic. In the next few years, China's news communication industry will develop rapidly and vigorously, and there is a great demand for professionals.

However, as a stakeholder in journalism, I can clearly feel that with the increasingly fierce competition in media-related markets and the acceleration of media integration, the domestic news communication industry has been rapidly integrated. At the same time, the "threshold" of this demand will gradually increase, and only those journalists with strong professional skills and high comprehensive quality will be optimistic. However, in recent years, the employment rate of journalism is not high. Even in cities and regions where the media industry is developed, the employment rate of journalism is declining.

The new media industry has developed rapidly in recent years. Although the media has changed, the production, editing, proofreading and other work in the process of communication always needs professionals to complete. Therefore, students majoring in journalism can do well in both traditional and new media.

In addition, in the Internet industry, journalism graduates also have certain advantages. Many of my seniors and sisters want to choose Internet salary after graduation. According to them, enterprises have set up new media departments to promote themselves in recent years, and the work of these departments is exactly what journalism students need to do. In addition, many media are popular now, and various magazines also have their own websites and new media channels, which need people to operate and maintain, so we can think that the employment prospects of journalism in China are still good.

According to the survey and my experience, journalism students mainly work in traditional media and Internet companies after graduation, as follows: Internet/e-commerce, new energy, advertising, public relations/marketing/exhibition, film and television/media/art/cultural communication, education/training/colleges, computer software, finance/investment/securities, mainly engaged in news-related work, copywriting planning and innovation.
