What is voluntary service?

According to the Regulations on Voluntary Service, voluntary service refers to the public services provided by volunteers, voluntary service organizations and other organizations to the society or others voluntarily and free of charge.

Volunteers can participate in voluntary service activities carried out by voluntary service organizations or carry out voluntary service activities according to law. Organizations other than voluntary service organizations can carry out voluntary service activities within their capabilities. Urban and rural communities and organizations established with the consent of grassroots mass autonomous organizations or units may carry out voluntary service activities in their communities and units.

Voluntary service refers to the service work of voluntarily giving one's time and energy to improve society and promote social progress without asking for returns. Dedication is noble and the essence of voluntary service.
