Fujian Railway's Traditional Railway

The first railroad in Fujian in the true sense of the word was the Yingxia Railway, which was completed and opened to traffic in 1957.

In 1949, at the first plenary session of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chen Jiageng, a patriotic overseas Chinese leader of Fujian origin, put forward a proposal to the General Assembly to build the Fujian Railway and was passed. The proposal was not implemented due to the outbreak of the Korean War, but was approved by Mao Zedong, who said, "Although this matter cannot be taken care of for a while, the correct opinion of building a railway in Fujian should be thoroughly supported."

In 1951, Zhang Dingsheng, then first secretary of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee, suggested to the central government and the East China Bureau that consideration be given as soon as possible to the construction of the Yingtan-Nanping Railway to solve the problem of Fujian's access to the province. For the development of Fujian, but also for the needs of the Taiwan Strait war preparation, the central government decided to invest 500 million yuan to build the Fujian Railway. Chen Jiageng was so excited by the news that he went to his hometown to inspect the line. Soon, the Ministry of Railways began to survey and design, and put forward three options for Fujian Province to discuss the line, and ultimately considered the "East Line Program" (from Yingtan to Xiamen via Shaowu, Nanping, Yongan, Zhangzhou) is the best. Later, the provincial party committee sought the opinion of Chen Jiageng, who also agreed with the "East Route Proposal". Finally, the central government approved the "east line program", the starting point for Yingtan, the end point for Xiamen, the construction of the Yingxia Railway was determined.

The Yingxia Railway was once the only railroad line into Fujian for a long time. Lingshan West Station 47 The Zhangquanshao Railway departs from Meishuikeng Station in Zhangping City, and travels east through Dashen and Fude to Quanzhou. In 1958, the Fourth Railway Academy accepted the Zhangquan Railway survey and design tasks.
