When is January 1st?

The first day of the first month.

January, the first day of the first lunar month, is the traditional Spring Festival in China. On this day, there are many traditional folk activities in China, including posting Spring Festival couplets and door gods and setting off firecrackers on New Year's Eve.

In ancient times, people adopted the calendar we call the Lunar Calendar today, and New Year's Day refers to the first day of the first lunar month, also known as Yuanri, Jacky, Yuan Chun, Xinzheng and the beginning of the year. When the Gregorian calendar was first used in the Republic of China, some people began to call the date 1 of the Gregorian calendar "New Year's Day".
