What is China's pastoral feminism?
But as we all know, rights and obligations are equal, so why can rural feminists put forward these "rural feminist thoughts" so confidently? Before we want to know about rural women's rights in China, we must first know what women's rights are. The real feminist pursuit is to emancipate women ideologically, completely deny the definition of "men are strong and women are weak" in male chauvinism, and let women gain the same social status as men. As the saying goes: you can do it, so can I.
As we know, due to the differences in physiological structure between men and women, the emphasis in social division of labor is also different, and this division of labor is a part of social operation, and there is no high or low. But in the patriarchal ideology, because "men are strong and women are weak", what men do is artificially regarded as noble things that the strong can do, and what women do is regarded as lowly things that the weak can do.
On the surface, rural women's rights in China are fighting for women's rights, but the starting point is not based on feminism. On the contrary, they are all male chauvinists in essence, because they all admit that "men are strong and women are weak" is the truth.
On this basis, the strange argument put forward by China's rural women's rights has certain "rationality":
1. Women are considered inferior and men are considered noble. They are ashamed of doing women's work and proud of doing men's work. Therefore, as a "feminist", it is natural to oppose women's engaging in "lowly female work".
2. Admit that women are inferior to men, and think that women can't compete fairly with men for social resources, so they will naturally get less. Therefore, as a "feminist", it is natural to advocate a more female-oriented scheme in the distribution system to pursue "feminist equality."
In addition, rural feminists often regard the "materialized women" part of male chauvinism as truth. Like self-materialization, they do not recognize that individual will is also a part of rights (such as affection and love), but only exchange realistic materials. Commodities don't need personal likes and dislikes, just need to sell at a good price. To put it bluntly, you are selling your "Yangzhou Thin Horse" at a high price. This is why China's pastoral feminism is called "pseudo-feminism". To put it bluntly, these rural women's rights are nothing more than parasites who want to lie on the body of a patriarchal society and suck blood.
